Garmin Sets Up Aviation Lab to Interest High School Students in Tech Careers

In response to the impending shortage of qualified electronics techs, Garmin has developed an innovative way to recruit top candidates from the area — invest in their training.

Part of a new Garmin initiative to interest young people in the trades industry, an aviation electronics lab for electronics and engineering technicians was established at the Olathe Advanced Technical Center in Olathe, Kansas. In the lab, the high school juniors and seniors will work for Garmin as apprentices and receive hands-on experience while earning college credit and receiving tuition reimbursement.
