Garmin Organizes Events to Celebrate Women of Aviation Week (WOAW)

Garmin recently invited young women from KC STEM Alliance, the Girl Scouts and 15 Kansas City-area school districts to attend activities celebrating women in aviation at Garmin headquarters and the hangar in Olathe, Kansas. WOAW, held from March 4–8 to mark the anniversary of the first pilot's license earned by a woman in 1910, is intended to inspire girls and young women to pursue careers in aviation.

Events included a presentation from pilot Amelia Rose Earhart, who followed in her namesake's pioneering adventure, free flights and flight simulations led by pilot and Garmin associate Jessica Koss and visits to local schools by avionics engineers to share their passion for aviation with students.
