Garmin® Introduces Delta™ Upland Remote Trainer with Beeper

E-collar, BarkLimiter™, and Locater Beeper All-In-One

OLATHE, Kan.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ:GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, today announced the Delta Upland – a highly versatile system for sporting dogs that combines an electronic training collar, a BarkLimiter, and a remote beeper to help locate dogs that are out of sight.

“The new Delta Upland is designed as a system that’s simple to use, yet has features that every upland hunter is going to need,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “The full-featured e-collar helps hunters train their dog before the season. The beeper keeps track of their dog in thick cover during the hunt. And the BarkLimiter ensures that their dog remains a good citizen after the hunt is over.”

At its core, the Delta Upland is a lightweight remote trainer that features customizable correction settings, including tone, vibration, and up to 36 levels of momentary and continuous stimulation – all with a range of up to three-quarters of a mile away.

The Delta Upland’s easy-to-read LCD display makes it simple to switch among five different training configurations. The trainer can make immediate corrections when necessary – all based on the temperament of the dog and the specific situation at hand. The Delta handheld can control up to three collars (sold separately) and switching between different dog collars is effortless. The lightweight and compact Delta Upland dog device features integrated stainless steel contact points and the entire system is waterproof in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. For those hunters who are prone to misplacing their unit while afield, the transmitter is high-visibility orange and is designed to float.

The Delta Upland also incorporates the industry-leading Tri-Tronics™ Upland G3 Beeper – a convenient and economical way to keep tabs on dogs, whether they’re in thick cover or rolling terrain. The beeper has four hunt sounds (including silent) and two point mode sounds (including hawk scream). When running silent, the beeper can be momentarily activated from the handheld to quickly determine a dog’s position. Hunters can turn their beeper on and off directly from the Delta Upland handheld, and it can be heard up to a quarter mile away. The beeper is powered by a replaceable CR123A battery and is compatible with any three-quarter inch Garmin collar strap.

Back at home, the built-in BarkLimiter functionality keeps nuisance barking to a minimum. Featuring bark identification technology that uses innovative accelerometer technology, the BarkLimiter is able to distinguish between barking and other vocalizations. Also exclusive to the new BarkLimiter Series is Advanced Bark Correction Technology, which delivers consistent and instantaneous correction, while substantially reducing false corrections that can be caused by external noises, including other dogs barking.

BarkLimiter mode, activated from the transmitter, has a set-it-and-forget-it “autorise” function that automatically programs the stimulation intensity level based on the barking behavior of each individual dog. After a prolonged period of quiet, the BarkLimiter will begin rising again if barking resumes.

The lightweight and compact BarkLimiter series features integrated stainless steel contact points and is waterproof in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

The Delta Upland has a retail price of $349.99, and is expected to be available in September 2013.

The Delta Upland dog training system is the latest innovation in Garmin’s growing outdoor segment, which focuses on developing technologies to enhance users’ outdoor experiences and their relationships with their canine companions. Whether it’s hiking, hunting, golfing, geocaching, or dog training, Garmin devices are essential tools for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels.
