Garmin’s® Fleet Management Interface Network Grows

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the
global leader in satellite navigation, announced today that its Fleet
Management Interface (FMI) program has expanded thanks to new
collaborations with corporations worldwide. Garmin’s FMI enables fleet
tracking, messaging, dispatch and navigation directly on Garmin’s
portable navigation devices, such as the StreetPilot®, nüvi® and zūmo®
series. With Garmin GPS, drivers and dispatchers work together to
improve customer response, optimize fleet resources, and ultimately,
achieve lower costs and higher profits for the company. Garmin will
display its FMI services at its CTIA Wireless trade show booth (#6639)
in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 1-3, 2008.

Companies desiring to manage their mobile resources can partner directly
with Garmin or work with a third-party application provider. Air-Trak,
DQ Technologies, and OMNiBRIDGE are the latest mobile resource
management partners who are integrating Garmin GPS devices into their
product portfolio. Enfora and WebTech Wireless are OEM/hardware wireless
solution providers that will be able to offer the components necessary
with Garmin’s FMI so customers can come to market faster.

The FMI enables direct-to-driver communication via text messaging and
instant re-routing with “new destination” message prompts. Utilizing
third party sensor and communication devices, companies can track vital
GPS information like vehicle location, speed and direction of travel,
distance traveled, elapsed time, as well as fuel status, idle times,
number of stops, cargo door access, cargo temperature, and battery and
thermostat levels. In addition to these FMI specific features, drivers
will also have access to Garmin’s acclaimed navigation where mobile
workers can enter a specific street address and receive turn-by-turn,
text-to-speech, voice prompted directions to their destination. If a
driver misses a turn, Garmin’s navigation technology will automatically
recalculate a new route to the destination.
