New Garmin Pilot update brings internet traffic to the app

Garmin Pilot Web and SmartCharts also feature new enhancements

OLATHE, Kan./July 15, 2025 – Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) today announced multiple updates in Garmin Pilot, including Garmin Pilot Web as well as its newest feature in the mobile app – SmartCharts. Internet traffic, previously only available on Garmin Pilot Web, is now in the mobile app for both iOS and Android users. Internet traffic on Garmin Pilot Web has also been updated for easier tracking and more detail. Additionally, recently announced SmartCharts now includes a Final Approach Fix (FAF) to Missed Approach Point (MAP) timing table.

Internet traffic on mobile

Available worldwide for all Garmin Pilot subscribers, a new internet traffic layer is available on Garmin Pilot mobile and shows aircraft traffic in real-time1. The traffic can be overlaid on the map via a layer setting, similar to existing ADS-B traffic. Pilots can also touch and interrogate the traffic to see the flight track, departure airport, arrival airport (when a flight plane is filed), airspeed and altitude, aircraft type and more. Callsigns are also displayed for aircraft using them. If a user is looking for a particular flight, tail numbers can be searched in the app to more easily find it on the map. For further traffic detail and ease of finding aircraft, Garmin Pilot uses differentiated icons for different aircraft types.

Internet traffic on Garmin Pilot Web

An updated feature for Garmin Pilot Web, and now in the mobile application, internet traffic flight tracks are now color coded, so aircraft are depicted based on altitude for easer visual identification and tracking. Internet traffic icon sizes have also been updated for easier viewing on the map.

SmartCharts updates

New to SmartCharts, the Final Approach Fix to Missed Approach Point (FAF to MAP) timing table helps pilots time their leg from the FAF to the MAP and more easily identify when to execute a missed approach during applicable procedures. Additionally, pilots flying to Oshkosh for AirVenture 2025 can now take advantage of the recently added FISK arrival into Oshkosh in SmartCharts. Users can select any of the transitions on the FISK arrival, as well as runway transitions to guide them along the route depicted in the Oshkosh Notice. Over 160 additional SmartCharts procedures were also added to Garmin Pilot as part of the latest 2507 navigation database cycle in the app.
