Fast and flat courses highlight historical waypoints through scenic Toledo and along the Maumee River
OLATHE, Kan./June 30, 2025 – Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) today announced the full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K courses for the inaugural Garmin Marathon Series in Toledo, Ohio. Designed in cooperation with Run Toledo, the routes highlight cultural points of interest throughout the Toledo metro area, showcasing “The Glass City” and its vibrant arts, sports and cultural scene in a unique and engaging way.
“We are so excited to announce those placing first in the age group divisions of the full marathon receive the newly released Forerunner® 970, and all half marathon, 10K and 5K age group winners receive the popular Forerunner 165. From the full marathon to the 5K, the Garmin Marathon Series will deliver a top-notch race experience for runners of every level.”
— Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing
All course distances start and finish near the Glass City Convention Center on North Summit Street, south of Jefferson Avenue. Full marathoners, half marathoners and 10K runners begin at 7 a.m. and run the first three miles together, initially heading south and then turning right onto Monroe Street and passing Fifth Third Field, home of the Toledo Mud Hens. The 5K participants follow at 7:20 a.m.
Full Marathon
After turning north at the Toledo Museum of Art in Hensville, runners cross the Maumee River on Robert Craig Memorial Bridge before heading south and going through Glass City Metropark, a vibrant, multipurpose park honoring Toledo’s industrial history. They continue running along the river on Miami Street, passing Hollywood Casino and the communities of Rossford and Perrysburg – showcasing the W.W. Knight Nature Preserve – before crossing the river into the City of Maumee. As runners return north, scenic stretches include unparalleled views of the river via River Road, Toledo Country Club and the Toledo Zoo before rejoining the final portion of the other routes and going by Maumee Bay Brewing Co. The full marathon course, which is pending USATF and Boston Marathon qualifier certification and subject to change, features no hills with more than 65 feet of elevation, a total ascent of 590 feet and a cut-off time of 6.5 hours.
Half Marathon
Those participating in the half marathon run with the full marathoners until they reach Hollywood Casino. They then return north via Miami Street, cross the Anthony Wayne Bridge and finish by turning right onto South Summit Street. Total ascent for the half marathon, also pending certification, is 341 feet and the cut-off time is the same as for the full marathon.
10K and 5K
Runners pass through the Warehouse District in downtown Toledo, an area filled with many of the city’s most historic buildings. Total ascent for the 10K and 5K are 127 feet and 98 feet, respectively.
Race participants, spectators and supporters are invited to attend the finish line festival in Promenade Park. A celebration of the finishers of the Garmin Marathon Series, this community event highlights local food vendors and entertainment until 2 p.m.
