Introducing Delta Inbounds™ by Garmin®: Wireless dog containment system and so much more
OLATHE, Kan./January 22, 2018 – Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), today announced the Delta Inbounds, a wireless portable containment system that gives a dog the freedom to roam free in a designated area, while giving dog owners peace of mind. But more than a simple containment system, the robust Delta Inbounds also operates as a BarkLimiter™, electronic training collar, and canine activity tracker. The Delta Inbounds is being announced in conjunction with the 2018 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, and can be seen at the Garmin booth (#3009).
“Many pet owners enjoy being outside with their dogs, but they want to ensure their four-legged companions stay safe and nearby. The Delta Inbounds solves that dilemma,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. “Physical fencing can be expensive and unsightly, and buried pet fencing can be time consuming to install and difficult to maintain. The Delta Inbounds takes care of those issues – and does so much more.”
The Delta Inbounds is simple to set up and requires no professional installation or wires to bury and maintain. The system can provide a containment radius of up to 150 feet, for a coverage area of roughly two acres. For ideal coverage, the device should have an unobstructed view of the perimeter of the containment area. The included marker flags help a dog to quickly learn his new boundary. In the unlikely event that a dog breaches the boundary, the system will let a dog come back inside the boundary without correction.
The Delta Inbounds dog device is slim and unobtrusive, and can be mounted on any collar up to one inch wide and 0.12 inches thick. A user selectable high intensity LED beacon allows for night time visibility. The unit comes with two sizes of extended wear plastic contact points to accommodate thick or short coats. With a second dog device (sold separately), the Delta Inbounds can contain up to two dogs.
When paired with the free Garmin Canine™ app on a smartphone1, users can unlock the true versatility of the Delta Inbounds. To deter nuisance barking, the collar can be programmed to act as a BarkLimiter, using either tone, vibration, or 10 stim levels. Users can choose the setting on the device that works best for their dog – advanced autorise that gradually increases as the dog barks – or a predetermined level.
Garmin Canine also turns a smartphone into a full-featured electronic training collar – designed for dog owners who want to teach their canine companion new commands, or refocus them away from unwanted behaviors – using tone, vibration, or 10 levels of stimulation. The Delta Inbounds also comes with a Keep Away Tag, a wireless proximity sensor (adjustable from one to three feet) that is placed to automatically deter pets from entering undesired areas – like trash cans, flower beds, or comfy couches – even when family members are away from home.
The Garmin Canine app also allows users to monitor their dog’s activity and help determine what Fido was up to all day2. It records and displays a dog’s activity level, including when he was active, resting, barking, being trained, or went near a Keep Away Tag.
Designed to withstand all the bumps, shakes and scrapes an active dog is likely to give it, the collar device is water-rated to 1 ATM (base unit is IPX7 water-rated)3. The base unit runs on AC power or two AA batteries that serve as backup power for up to four days. The dog device has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that works for up to two weeks, depending on usage.
The Delta Inbounds is available now for a minimum retail price of $399.99. The system includes a base unit, dog device, Keep Away Tag, wall mount and charger cable, AC adapters, three collar bands, 25 boundary flags, long and short contact points, and an owner’s manual.
