Garmin® Introduces Sport PRO™ Remote Trainer
Garmin International, Inc., a subsidiary of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN),
today announced the Sport PRO, an intuitive, full-featured dog training
system for sporting dog owners. With ergonomic, one-handed operation,
the Sport PRO lets trainers keep their eyes focused on their dog, and
not on their handheld.
“The Sport PRO manages to strike that perfect balance between being
packed with features, yet easy-to-use,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice
president of worldwide sales. “The tactile buttons and quick-turn dial
make it easy to make instantaneous corrections and change settings on
the fly.”
The Sport PRO handheld incorporates four raised buttons – one each for
continuous, momentary, vibration, and tone stimulation. An
easily-accessible thumbwheel dial makes positive clicks to change
between 10 different stimulation levels.
The thumbwheel also has an auxiliary setting, which lets the trainer
activate the built-in BarkLimiter with new, user settable levels. The
auxiliary setting also allows the user to activate the built-in beacon
lights on the dog’s e-collar, which are visible up to 100 yards away.
The dog device, known as the PT 10, is designed for ruggedness with a
water rating of 1ATM1. The collar has a 3/4-inch strap and
comes with interchangeable contact points – standard length, or a longer
version for long haired or thick coated dogs. The Sport PRO handheld is
also compatible with existing Delta dog devices for greater flexibility.
Built to withstand the elements, the handheld floats and has a water
rating of IPX72. The Sport PRO can train up to three dogs at
once, up to three quarters of a mile away (additional dog devices sold
separately). Both the handheld and collar units have rechargeable,
user-replaceable lithium-ion batteries that last up to 60 hours on a
single charge. The Sport PRO is expected to be available in the summer
of 2015.
The Sport PRO is the latest innovation in Garmin’s growing outdoor
segment, which focuses on developing technologies to enhance users’
outdoor experiences and their relationships with their canine
companions. Whether it’s handhelds, wearables, action cameras, or dog
training systems, Garmin devices are essential tools for outdoor
enthusiasts of all levels. For more information about Garmin’s other dog
