Garmin® 2010 BlueChart® g2 and BlueChart g2 Vision® Marine Cartography Now Available

OLATHE, Kan.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, today announced that the new 2010 BlueChart g2 and BlueChart g2 Vision marine cartography products are now available. Styled to match the appearance of paper charts on your chartplotter screen, the redesigned 2010 BlueChart offerings make it easy to see and identify intertidal zones, depth contours, spot soundings, navaids, wrecks, obstructions and more.

“As a leader in marine cartography, Garmin engineers and cartographers are in constant effort to provide users with the most accurate and detailed maps on the water,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “The newly redesigned BlueChart data brings even more detail, dimension and graphical sophistication to what is already considered an industry benchmark in electronic cartography.”

The new 2010 BlueChart line includes both BlueChart g2 and BlueChart g2 Vision. Both products provide basic charts, tidal stations, currents, perspective view and fishing charts, while providing a smooth user experience and familiar feel. In addition, with the redesigned products, users will benefit from increased dimension and standardized information, as well as improved transition between zoom levels and harmonious changes across chart boundaries. The revised mapping data also adds a safety shading feature which allows the user to enable contour shading for all depth contours shallower than the user-defined safe depth. These new charts also display animated currents with an arrow that indicate direction and strength of currents when enabled.

BlueChart g2 Vision adds to the aforementioned features with high-resolution satellite imagery and true MarinerEye above water or FishEye underwater perspective – both in three dimensions. The g2 Vision data card also enables auto guidance technology on compatible units, and offers a robust database of aerial reference photos.

The new BlueChart g2 and g2 Vision data cards are currently available through one of Garmin’s participating dealers or at www.garmin.com, where more information can be found, including details about compatible products and pricing. The 2010 BlueChart products will also be available as a download via the Garmin website in April 2010.
