Garmin® Continues Rollout of ADS-B Approvals for Business Aviation

Gulfstream Selects Garmin ADS-B Out Solution for the G200 Business Jet

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), today
announced the selection and certification of a Garmin Automatic
Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) solution by Gulfstream for the
G200 business jet. The Garmin GTX 3000 Mode S Extended Squitter (ES)
transponder and GDL® 88 ADS-B datalink combine to fulfill
global ADS-B requirements which meet the stringent demands of a variety
of aircraft types. This versatile ADS-B solution addresses the necessary
airspace requirements to give business and transport category aircraft
operators an immediate path to compliance.

“Garmin is thrilled to broaden our partnership with Gulfstream to extend
this all-inclusive ADS-B Out solution to the G200 business jet,” said
Carl Wolf, vice president of aviation sales and marketing. “We continue
to leverage our experience in certified ADS-B solutions to provide
timely, integrated options for a wide range of aircraft types. We are
honored to work with admirable partners such as Gulfstream to ensure
their customers continue to have access to airspace around the world.”

The GTX 3000 and GDL 88 offer Gulfstream G200 business jet operators a
simple path to meet the demands of air traffic modernization initiatives
around the world. The GTX 3000 utilizes highly accurate WAAS/SBAS
position information provided by the GDL 88 to broadcast aircraft
identity, state and intent data (DO-260B compliant) to air traffic
control. Existing equipment such as TCAS/ACAS systems and transponder
controllers, conveniently integrate with the GDL 88 and GTX 3000 to
provide a cohesive and straightforward ADS-B solution, reducing cost and
streamlining the installation process.

Together, the GTX 3000 and GDL 88 offer enhanced safety and increased
situational awareness for other aircraft operating in the surrounding
airspace. Unique to this Garmin solution, the GTX 3000 and GDL 88
feature the capability to transmit on both approved ADS-B frequencies,
so operators with this solution are visible to other ADS-B In-equipped
aircraft – even those operating at small reliever airports where ADS-B
ground stations may not be nearby.

As part of Garmin’s expansive ADS-B portfolio, the GTX 3000 meets
current compliance standards as a certified ADS-B Out solution when
paired with a compatible position WAAS source as provided by the GDL 88,
allowing this cohesive system to meet ADS-B requirements for a variety
of aircraft models. Additionally, Garmin is currently working with
select Garmin Authorized Dealers to approve the installation of this
solution via Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) in the following
aircraft, which will be made available to the Garmin Dealer Network:

  • Citation V; Executive Aircraft Maintenance
  • Hawker 750, 800A/XP, 850XP; 900XP; Elliott Aviation
  • Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP; Elliott Aviation
  • Learjet 60; Butler National Corporation
  • Learjet 35A; Butler National Corporation

The Gulfstream G200 joins the G150 business jet in adopting this GTX
3000 and GDL 88 ADS-B solution, which is now available at the Gulfstream
Service Center in Dallas, Texas. For information regarding this Garmin
ADS-B solution in the G150 and G200, contact a Gulfstream regional sales
