Garmin® G950™ and G600™ Available for TECNAM Aircraft

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd., the global leader in
satellite navigation, and TECNAM Aircraft announced today that TECNAM
Aircraft has selected the Garmin G950 and G600 as optional avionics for
the P2006T and P2002 JF and P2002 JR, respectively. This announcement
was made in conjunction with the Aero Friedrichshafen trade show, April
2-5, 2009. The twin engine P2006T with G950 avionics and single engine
P2002 JF and P2002 JR with G600 avionics will be on display at TECNAM’s
booth, A7-131.

“Since their founding over 60 years ago, TECNAM Aircraft has developed a
reputation for manufacturing a diverse fleet of extremely reliable and
high quality aircraft,” said Gary Kelley, Garmin’s vice president of
marketing. “We’re are looking forward to working with TECNAM and are
confident their customers will appreciate the situational awareness and
integration that comes from the G950 and G600.”

The TECNAM P2002 JF (Fix Gear) and P2002 JR (Retractable Gear) are
two-seat, low wing airplanes that feature superlative performance and
flying qualities. The P2002 JF and P2002 JR represent the latest
development of TECNAM’s low wing aircraft, and are designed with the use
of advanced software with structural and fluidynamic analysis. Thanks to
the tapered wing, the laminar airfoils, the slotted flaps and the
streamline fuselage, the aircraft have a perfect mix of aerodynamic and
structural efficiency.

Garmin’s G600 will be available on the P2002 JF & P2002 JR. The G600
incorporates two individual displays – a PFD and MFD – in a customized
package designed for easy retrofit installation. The G600 combines
primary flight data including attitude and air data with navigation,
weather, terrain and traffic data displayed in an intuitive pictorial
format on dual LCD displays. This large, user-friendly presentation
allows pilots to quickly and efficiently scan the data so that they can
stay ahead of the aircraft during all phases of flight. The G600 is
designed to integrate with Garmin’s panel mount WAAS GPS products. It
replaces traditional mechanical gyroscopic flight instruments with
Garmin’s solid state Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) that
has superior reliability and accuracy, and features rapid alignment
while moving, including in-flight dynamic restarts. The PFD display
increases the pilot’s attitude indication by over 50 percent over a
traditional 3-inch attitude indicator.

The TECNAM P2006T is a twin-engine, four-seat aircraft with fully
retracting landing gear. The high-wing configuration offers stability,
superior cabin visibility and easy access for passengers and luggage.
TECNAM has used its extensive experience with aluminum airframes to
create in the TECNAM P2006T a robust very light airframe, resulting in
an outstanding payload-to-total-weight ratio.

The TECNAM P2006T will feature Garmin’s G950, an all-glass avionics
suite that is based on the popular G1000®, but is designed for aircraft
manufacturers who want a standardized avionics configuration and will
complete certification of their airframe’s avionics panel on their own.
The P2006T’s G950 avionics is a two panel display that will integrate
all primary flight, navigation, communication, terrain, traffic,
surveillance, and weather data on the high-definition LCDs. The system
utilizes many of the same features found on Garmin’s other popular
avionics suites including solid state attitude and heading reference
system (AHRS), Mode S transponder with traffic information service (TIS)
(U.S. only), dual integrated radio modules, digital audio control
system, Garmin SafeTaxi® airport diagrams that help pilots navigate
unfamiliar airports (U.S. only), and Garmin FliteCharts® for terminal
procedures (U.S. only).
