Garmin Pay for Transit

Use Garmin Pay for Your Transit

Attention all mass-transit commuters! We’re excited to announce that you can now use Garmin Pay for your transit.

In other words, use your Garmin smartwatch to pay for your fare at the local subway station. That’s right.  All you have to do is tap your watch just like you would at the grocery store and BAM! You’re on your way. And no worries, you can use it to exit the transit system too.

First things first, you have to make sure your debit/credit card is loaded onto your smartwatch. Make sure your watch is paired to Garmin Connect on your phone. Open the app and go to Garmin Devices, tap the device you want and then tap Garmin Pay. Next you will be prompted to create a 4-digit passcode to secure the wallet on your smartwatch, then you will choose between Visa, Discover, Maestro and Mastercard. Next you can manually enter your card information or take a picture of it. You may be prompted to provide ID verification.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk about how to use Garmin Pay for Transit. Here’s how it works:

This feature is available on vívoactive 3, vívoactive 3 music, vívoactive 3 (Verizon), Forerunner 645, Forerunner 645 Music, Forerunner 945, fenix 5 Plus Series, fenix 6 Series and all forthcoming smartwatches with Garmin Pay. What are you waiting for? Get out there and ride the rails!
