Round Britain Power Boat Race sets sail

Saturday 21st June 2008
First leg; Portsmouth – Plymouth

Weather conditions: General – overcast
Wind: South Westerly force 3-4

The team were prepped and raring to embark on this epic race before the race start at 10am Saturday 21st June. Shortly after the race start the boat unfortunately suffered a technical difficulty with the water pump. The team valiantly attempted to fix the faulty pump and got running again by lunch time returning to the Eastern Solent and navigating through the course gates with the help of their Garmin 5012.

Just as the guys were off on route for Plymouth they suffered engine problems again. A decision was made to head to Bridport, Dorset where the team were given a warm welcome by the good people of Bridport; the whole team were thoroughly enchanted by the support and willingness to help by the Bridport locals.

The team and boat arrived in Plymouth in one piece and the cancellation of the Plymouth to Milford Haven leg due to poor weather conditions gave the team a chance to regroup and prepare for the next leg.

All boats were transported via road to Milford Haven and we wish them all the best for the next leg to Bangor.
