Garmin Introduces The New GPSMAP 1222/1222xsv Touch Chartplotter/Combo Units

OLATHE, Kan./Feb. 14, 2018 – Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ:GRMN), today announced the addition of a new 12-inch networking chartplotter and combination model to its popular GPSMAP product line – the GPSMAP 1222 Touch and 1222xsv Touch chartplotters. Both with a 12-inch touchscreen display, these new plotters are available with and without built-in sonar. The new GPSMAP 1222/1222xsv Touch are being announced in conjunction with Miami International Boat Show, Feb. 15-19.

Experience an advanced navigation solution with the GPSMAP 1222 Touch series, available as a 12-inch sunlight-readable touchscreen chartplotter or combo unit (xsv model). They feature built-in wireless connectivity for the ActiveCaptain™ app and VIRB® action camera integration and more. They also boost a built in 10Hz GPS/GLONASS receiver for smooth on-screen navigation.

These plotters offer full-network compatibility for the Garmin Marine Network which allows support for sharing sonar, charts, user data, radar, IP cameras and PanoptixTM all-seeing sonar among multiple units. Plus, there’s NMEA® 2000 and NMEA 0183 support for autopilots, digital switching, weather, VHF, AIS and other sensors.

Anglers will benefit from the xsv model that comes equipped with built-in 1kW traditional CHIRP sonar, CHIRP ClearVü and CHIRP SideVü scanning sonar capability (transducer sold separately) for a near-picture quality view of what’s beneath the boat. Plus, the GPSMAP 1222xsv Touch also features support for Panoptix all-seeing sonar and other premium Garmin sonar modules (sold separately). The GPSMAP 1222/1222xsv Touch comes preloaded with a worldwide basemap for general reference with support for optional BlueChart® g2 Vision® HD charts with Auto Guidance, satellite imagery, 3-D perspectives and more.

SailAssist has also been integrated into both models, offering laylines, tidal information, enhanced wind rose, a current slider and other elements that prove to be beneficial to sailors of all kinds. Both models also offer integrated ANT support for use with the quatix® 5 marine smartwatch, gWindTM Wireless 2 transducer, GNXTM Wind marine instrument and wireless remote controls. Additionally, they feature built-in Quickdraw™ Contours software, a free, easy-to-use tool that lets mariners instantly create personalised HD maps with 1-foot contours on any body of water.
