Garmin support ECOVER and Mike Golding in the Vendée Globe

Mike Golding, one of the UK’s powerhouses of sailing is taking up the challenge of the thrilling single handed round-the-world Vendee Globe race in November with the support of Garmin.

Facing all manner of challenges and conditions, Mike Golding and his Open 60 yacht ECOVER III will be fitted with Garmin GMR18 Radar, GPS Map 5008 touchscreen plotter with sufficient g2 Vision Bluechart electronic charts to cover the world, plus two GPS76 handhelds for back up and emergency grab bags.

We can’t wait to see him put ECOVER III through its paces as we run up to the main event starting in November. Commenting on Garmin’s support Golding said "to be successful in offshore racing, every item of equipment has to be worthy of its place aboard the boat. To be the best, you have to use the best!"
