Garmin® Receives J.D. Power and Associates Award for Factory Installed Navigation

OLATHE, Kan./January 9, 2012/Business Wire — Garmin International Inc.,
a
unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, will showcase its
industry-leading
factory-installed navigation and innovative infotainment solutions at the 2012 Consumer
Electronics
Show in Las Vegas. The week will be highlighted by an award presentation in which J.D. Power
and Associates
executives will recognize Garmin’s in-car navigation in the Dodge Charger as “Highest
Customer
Satisfaction With Factory Installed Navigation Systems”. The honored Garmin navigation
system
was first introduced as a factory-installed option on the 2011 Dodge Charger, Journey and Chrysler
300
models, and later expanded to additional Chrysler, Dodge, RAM and Jeep vehicles.

“Receiving
the
J.D. Power and Associates award for factory-installed navigation in our first year of eligibility
for
this category is an honor as Garmin strives for a seamless navigation experience, regardless of
whether
drivers choose a stand-alone device, a smartphone app or an in-dash system,” said Matthew
Munn,
Garmin’s Managing Director Automotive OEM. “As the global leader in navigation, Garmin
makes
customer satisfaction a priority for built-in navigation as well as fully integrated infotainment
solutions
that provide an intuitive automotive user experience that the world has come to expect from
Garmin.”

The award will be presented at CES in Garmin’s
automotive booth (S115) at
noon Wednesday, Jan. 11, by Mike Van Nieuwkuyk, J.D. Power and Associates’
Executive Director Automotive
OEM. Garmin’s newest consumer products will also be displayed and
demonstrated at CES (booth 35812).

Garmin
received the top ranking in the J.D. Power and Associates
2011 U.S. Navigation Usage and Satisfaction
StudySM, taking two of the top three spots.
According to the study, “The Garmin system
fitted to the Dodge Charger ranks highest in owner
satisfaction with factory-installed navigation systems
and performs particularly well in the navigation
display screen, ease of use and speed of system factors.”
Garmin’s system installed in the
Chrysler 300 finished close behind in third. Now in its 13th
year, the study identifies six factors
that contribute to overall satisfaction with factory-installed
navigation systems. In order of importance,
they are: ease of use; routing; navigation display screen;
speed of system; voice directions; and voice
recognition.

“Furthermore,” the study
continued, “the trend toward integrating
the controls of different systems in the vehicle, including
audio, climate control and phone, only
adds to the ease-of-use issues that owners experience with their
navigation system.” With that
in mind, Garmin will use CES as an opportunity to unveil an exciting
array of next-generation technology
at Garmin’s automotive OEM showcase.

Among the innovations
being demonstrated will be:

  • A
new multi-sensor controller that provides an intuitive and
safer way to use navigation and infotainment
functions in the car while reducing the dangers of driver
    distraction
  • Fully integrated automotive
    OEM infotainment system solutions
  • Integration
of cloud-based connected services and apps for
    automotive OEM applications
  • World-class Garmin
    “glass cockpit” avionics and marine
network technologies that inspire Garmin’s future
    vision of the “glass dashboard”
    or “automotive cockpit”
