Wiggins takes second in final stage of Giro d’Italia

The 21st and final stage of the 2009 Giro d'Italia saw the peloton take on individual time trials.

Team Garmin-Slipstream's Bradley Wiggins, had the time trial in his sights having set the fastest times in the second and third checkpoints. Wiggins was peddling full pelt when the heavens opened and left him struggling with slippery conditions which hampered his speed.

Despite his earlier advantage the weather took its toll and left Bradley only 1 second shy of the leader at the end of the Time Trial.
