Motor Boat of the Year Awards 2011 Sponsor Announced

IPC Marine Media, owner of the prestigious Motor Boat of the Year Awards, has announced that marine electronics manufacturer and global leader in satellite navigation, Garmin has signed up as the main sponsor of the event for the third successive year.

The gala dinner and Awards ceremony will take place on Monday 10th January 2011 at a 5-Star London hotel and recognises the best of design, performance and innovation in the world of motor boats.  The winners of the eleven award categories are announced in front of a gathered invitation-only audience that includes the short-listed nominees, boat builders, brokers and industry VIPs.

Simon Owen, Publishing Director at IPC Marine Media welcomes Garmin’s continued sponsorship; “Since we launched the Motor Boat of the Year Awards in 2007 the industry has come to acknowledge the status of these awards and recognise that to win one is a major achievement and the highest accolade our UK marine industry can bestow.

“We are delighted to welcome Garmin once more as our main sponsor due to the clear synergy between their high-quality product range and the design and craftsmanship continually demonstrated by our nominees and winners.”

Marine Senior Product Manager for Garmin, Nigel Craine said: “Garmin has strong roots in marine along with a passion for engineering and innovation. These values complement the Motor Boat of the Year Awards as they are so highly respected within the industry. We are proud to be the main sponsor of the event for the third year.”

Each year entrants compete for winning titles within various categories ranging from ‘RIBs and Sportsboats’ to ‘Custom Yachts’. Winners are decided by a judging panel formed of experienced editorial test teams from the leading marine titles Motor Boats Monthly & Motor Boat & Yachting. One award, the Garmin Europe Ltd Outstanding Service Award, is nominated by the public via IPC Marine Media’s website www.ybw.com, acknowledging companies who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in 2010.
