Garmin offers innovative software update for GPSMAP® 4000 and 5000 series

Garmin is pleased to offer GPSMAP 4000 and 5000 series chartplotter owners the chance to further expand the capabilities of their units.

Garmin, in the continued spirit of excellent service and innovation, has developed a free download of cutting-edge software enabling even smoother, faster redraw of charts in both zoom and pan modes – increasing the potential of your chartplotter.

The new software download also adds extended ‘Mariner’s Eye’ 3D capabilities enabling you to overlay 3D satellite images and view a 360˚ representation of your surrounding area in ‘virtual reality’ whilst navigating.

Improved Auto Guidance function means that you can now automatically convert to Auto Route mode and control your Garmin Autopilot from your plotter – even in 3D view.

Using Compass Rose overlay allows you to view your boat’s heading with ease and with the compass tape feature in ‘Mariner’s Eye 3D’ view, you’re sure to always know where you’re going.

Nigel Craine, Marine Product Manager for Garmin said: “Registering your Garmin products has never been so important as this free download, available from the Garmin website, offers you a whole new set of features on your existing chartplotter.

“With Greater system integration, you can even control your autopilot from the plotter screen or initiate a DSC VHF call.”

Other improvements to the software include an improved user interface and user-defined depth shading allowing you to mark your own safety parameters. Fishing charts also have increased depth contours to help fishermen to judge the best fishing spots at a glance.

All new purchases of the GPSMAP 4000 and 5000 series are now equipped with this software as standard. For more information on the Garmin range of chartplotters and to download this brand new software to your existing unit visit www.garmin.co.uk.
