Garmin® Introduces GHP™ 10V Marine Autopilot for Volvo Penta IPS and Sterndrive Joystick Systems

Garmin the global leader in satellite navigation, is proud to announce its new GHP 10V Marine Autopilot System certified by Volvo Penta for use with all Inboard Performance Systems (IPS) and Sterndrive Joystick systems. One of the first OEM manufacturers to select the GHP 10V Autopilot is Fairline, one of the world’s leading luxury performance motor yacht manufacturers.

Nigel Craine, OEM and Sales Manager for Garmin said: “Garmin’s autopilot systems are known for their industry-leading performance, reliability, and ease of use. We’re confident that our new GHP 10V autopilot will be ideal for boat manufacturers and owners installing Volvo Penta IPS propulsion systems.

“Combining the pilot with our Garmin multifunction navigation systems on board provides the helmsman confidence in any situation, and delivers the perfect cruising experience.”

The GHP 10V Autopilot System is approved for use with boats that have an integrated Volvo Penta IPS steering and propulsion system and will feature Garmin’s proven and innovative Shadow Drive™ technology – a patented feature that automatically disengages the autopilot if the helm is turned, allowing for quick and safe manual manoeuvres.

The autopilot will automatically engage again once a steady course is re-established. Boaters will cruise comfortably as Garmin’s autopilot incorporates a rock-solid gyro-stabilized heading sensor for maximum performance and reliability in rough seas.

In addition, mariners will experience confidence and security from the GHC™ 10 Autopilot Control Unit that is designed to easily configure and control the autopilot. With a bright, crisp, sunlight viewable 3.5” colour display, three soft keys, and a dedicated “standby” button, boaters will benefit from the simple, interactive interface. Three GHC 10 controllers can be interfaced with a single GHP 10V, allowing autopilot functionality at a remote location on the boat.
