Garmin Expands Professional Cycling Team Sponsorships

Garmin will continue to sponsor Movistar Team, EF Education First-Drapac p/b Cannondale and Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka and welcomes BMC, Mitchelton-SCOTT and Trek-Segafredo. Additionally, Garmin will continue its support of the Trek Factory Racing, Clif Pro, CUBE Action Team and SCOTT-SRAM mountain biking teams.

Garmin has been a dedicated sponsor of professional cycling teams for the better part of a decade, providing purpose-built devices that help teams proudly cross the finish line like no other brand can. Garmin continues to produce innovative devices that combine powerful navigation and training features with intuitive designs that are easy to use for professional and casual cyclists alike.

Throughout the years, teams have been eager to work with Garmin and be equipped with products to increase performance and help provide a safer cycling environment. Edge cycling computers will provide data and key metrics to cyclists, as well as GPS and navigational support. BMC Racing Team has named the Edge 1030 as their favourite device, citing the ease of creating routes in different countries where they’re not familiar with the roads. Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka can’t get enough of Edge 820 which provides in-depth training and performance monitoring tools in a lightweight, compact design.

Teams will also take advantage of the world’s first cycling radar, Varia. This rearview radar will warn of vehicles approaching from behind, while a tail light brightens and flashes to alert drivers of a cyclist ahead. Additionally, many of the sponsored teams will use Garmin Forerunner GPS running watches, fēnix multisport GPS watches and a range of vivo activity trackers, which will monitor the distance cyclists travel, the calories they burn and how much sleep they get every night. The teams will also benefit from the Garmin Index smart scale that measures weight, body fat, skeletal muscle mass and more.
