“It’s an honor to share the DAME Design Award with Volvo Penta for the Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit,” said Dan Bartel, vice president of worldwide sales.  “Garmin is known for producing user-friendly devices and Volvo Penta has a rich history of bringing innovative technology to the marine industry.  As a result of our collaboration, the Glass Cockpit defines how boating and navigating is easier than ever.”

For this year’s nominations, more than 100 products were entered into seven different categories and judged based on overall design, build quality, design quality, originality, ergonomics and price-to-quality ratio.  The Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit won the category for marine electronics and marine-related software.

Also receiving DAME Design Award honorable mention was the Garmin quatix™, its first GPS watch designed for avid mariners, both power and sail.  The quatix provides the most pivotal marine features and both comprehensive navigation and sailing capabilities at the convenience of the mariner’s wrist.
