Garmin Fantom Radar Wins Prestigious IBEX Innovation Award

Garmin is pleased to announce that its Fantom radar was awarded the 2016 IBEX Innovation Award in the OEM Electronics category. IBEX Innovation Awards are widely considered some of the most prestigious honors in the marine industry. Garmin also recently won eight NMEA awards, including Manufacturer of the Year. Adding an IBEX innovation award helps solidify Garmin as one of the most recognized names in marine electronics.

The 40 W solid-state Garmin GMR Fantom radar features MotionScope technology, which uses the Doppler effect to detect and highlight moving targets up to 72 nautical miles away to help you avoid potential collisions.

Winners were selected by a panel of judges from Boating Writers International (BWI), a professional organization consisting of writers, editors, publishers, photographers, broadcasters, public relations specialists and others in the communications profession associated with the boating industry.

“Every year IBEX is honored by the number of submissions to the Innovation Awards and 2016 was no exception with 85 entrees. We would like to thank Alan Wendt and all of the BWI judges for participating in selecting the award winners,” said Anne Dunbar, IBEX show director. “These Awards highlight the importance of innovation for our industry, and IBEX is honored to recognize the companies who continue to create dynamic new products.”
