GTN 6XX/7XX systems installed using Approved Model List (AML) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) SR02120SE and EASA STC 10053621 are affected.

STC SR02120SE, Master Drawing List revision 3 includes:
- GTN MAIN Software Version 6.51

- GMA Audio Software Version 4.20A
- Installation approval for new GMA 35/35c part numbers
Software Changes include:
- Database Sync – Database sync allows single point database updates by manually loading the required databases to a single Garmin device, then distributing the databases to multiple installed Garmin systems via HSDB interface. The GTN, GDU 620, and GDU 7XX/1060 support database sync.
- Chart Streaming – Chart Streaming is a feature that allows individual charts to be viewed before the entire database has been transferred from single point database loading. When the charts are only loaded on one unit, the other units in the system will transfer the charts to them, but it may take some time. Chart Streaming will request individual charts to be able to be viewed as requested by the pilot. This project approved the chart streaming from GTN to GTN, or from GTN to GDU.
- Visual Reporting Points – Supports published points in the database for visual reporting locations. These are primarily used in Europe. These points are available through the ADB2 database that is supported in GTN v6.21 and later.
- Add support for Aviation Database Format (ADB2) – ADB2 provides support for future database size increases by removing the small file size limitation that exists on ADB1.
- Add Track Vector to Map Pages – The track vector projects a time based vector originating from the ownship based on current track.
- NavLib 8.20 – Upgrade to v8.20 Navigation library. No new features were added as part of this library integration, but this update included issue fixes and other interfaces.
- Support for Other Coordinate System Formats – This project added support for the three primary formats of latitude/longitude, the degree/minutes/seconds, decimal degrees, ING (Irish
Grid), OSG (UK), and Swiss Grid.
- Non-TSO-C194 Terrain Alerting – GTN v6.50 included a non-TSO-C194 terrain alerting function. The terrain alerting algorithms are the same as used for Garmin’s TSO-C194 HTAWS function. This function provides caution and warning FLTA alerts for terrain, obstacles, and wires. Pilot selectable modes include normal, Reduced Protection, and Inhibit.
- User defined waypoints as airports – GTN user waypoints in v6.50 are able to be classified as an airport in order to inhibit terrain alerting around them. The user defined airports will be set with an altitude and classified as a destination.
- Multi Touch – Pinch zooming is possible using multiple contact points on the screen. The only multi-touch feature supported is zooming. Pinch Zoom is available on all map type pages and windows. This includes the map page, traffic page, terrain page, all weather pages except weather radar, and all map preview windows. All multi-touch features are also controllable by their previous means. This has been previously approved under GTN Part 23 AML STC SA02019SE-D.
- Data Logging – The data logging consists of two major portions, the Flight Data Logging, and WAAS logging. The Flight Data logging records various flight parameters such as PVT data, CDI deflections, and attitude information if interfaced to an appropriate external sensor. This data is recorded and able to be downloaded to an SD card. The WAAS logging is recording various GPS parameters and faults to better troubleshoot GPS issues.
- Radius to Fix Legs – The GTN will display course deviation as well as depiction of the leg on the moving map. Annunciations in the lower right corner of the screen provide the pilot with additional information to assist with flying the leg. The GTN will forward course deviation and flight plan depiction of RF legs to compatible interfaced LRUs. All rotorcraft models included on the AML are limited to VFR operation by Type Design.
- Visual Approaches – Provides lateral and optional vertical guidance to runways in the database that may not have associated instrument approaches. They are intended to be used in VMC only to aid in situational awareness and may not provide terrain or obstacle clearance.
- Enhanced Descent VNAV – Enhanced Descent VNAV allows for customizable descent profiles along flight plan routes. The guidance is output for display on the VDI of an interfaced Garmin primary flight display. This STC did not approve any interface to provide VNAV guidance to an interfaced autopilot.
