GPS leader promotes Bartel to lead worldwide sales and European initiatives
Garmin names Dan Bartel Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Managing Director of European operation
OLATHE, Kan./October 30, 2006/PR Newswire — Garmin International, Inc. a unit of Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN), today announced the promotion of company veteran Dan Bartel. The new Vice President, Worldwide Sales will also serve as Managing Director of Garmin (Europe) Ltd., the company’s UK subsidiary. In this role, Bartel will assume day-to-day leadership responsibilities of sales for all consumer market segments of the company to include automotive/PND, outdoor, recreation, marine, fitness and Garmin mobile, plus strengthen the management leadership for European operations. The move is intended to bring consistency to the growth and sales strategies of the world leader in GPS-enabled devices.

Soon after joining Garmin in 1992, Bartel was chosen to lead the Garmin Europe office where he remained for 6 years. He returned to the headquarters facility in Olathe, Kansas, where he has served as Senior Director of Consumer Sales. Bartel is expected to capitalize on his leadership experience in Europe and North America to identify immediate sales opportunities while establishing and fulfilling long-term growth goals.
Bartel will report directly to Garmin President and CEO, Min Kao. Sean Biddlecombe, long-time Garmin Europe executive, will continue to serve as the Garmin Europe General Manager and report to Bartel. In the US, Bartel will maintain his executive responsibilities and lead an expanding sales team.
