1. What will happen if I’m using a regional sat-nav? (e.g. StreetPilot C510, nüvi 610, zūmo 400)

When you install the software, your product’s internal memory will first update its current region rather than the whole of Europe. Select a single country to install from the drop-down menu. This update will overwrite your unit’s pre-installed regional mapping. During the update, Garmin MapInstall software will load onto your computer. MapInstall lets you select additional mapping regions for transfer to the remaining internal memory of your sat-nav device or to an additional SD card. These maps will be locked to your product’s serial number, and are therefore not transferable to another unit.

2. What will happen if I’m using a whole-region sat-nav? (e.g. StreetPilot C550, nüvi 660, zūmo 550)

The update will not offer you a choice of individual countries. Instead, it will overwrite your unit’s in-built region with mapping for the whole of Europe. Garmin MapInstall software will be loaded onto your computer as a useful back-up for transferring the content back to your device if it is accidentally replaced or overwritten.

3. What will the update do if I’m using a DELUXE device? (e.g. nüvi 310D, StreetPilot C510D, zūmo 510)

Your product’s internal memory will update with a single region, not the whole of Europe. Select a country to install from the drop-down menu. The update will overwrite the region on your unit with the one chosen. Once complete, Garmin MapInstall software will load onto your computer. MapInstall lets you select additional mapping regions for transfer either to the remaining internal memory of your unit or to an additional SD card. These maps will be locked to your product’s serial number, and are therefore not transferable to another unit.

4. What will happen if I’ve installed a City Navigator Europe NT MapSource DVD on my computer?

If you installed your original City Navigator Europe NT MapSource from a DVD – for example for a Deluxe model – the upgrade will also refresh this data with the new 2009 maps. Maps and waypoints can be transferred and, in the case of the zūmo, routes and tracks too.

5. Is the Retail Map Update compatible with my Mac?

The Retail Map Update is compatible with both PC and Apple Mac computers. If you are using a Mac, the installer programme is Garmin MapInstall.
