A ‘nü icon’ emerges in the Garmin nüvi 3700 series
Sydney, Australia, 20 April 2010 – The ultimate in style and design, the new nüvi 3700 series from Garmin elevates the personal navigation device (PND) to a consumer electronics style icon. Boasting a new ultra-thin, pocket-friendly design and large-screen, high-resolution glass display with capacitive touch panel, nüvi 3700 series won the coveted Red Dot Design Award in the world’s largest and most renowned design competition
“Personal navigation is entering a new era, and nüvi 3700 series has the stunning design and seamlessly intuitive interface to lead the way moving forward,” said Matt DeMoss, National Sales and Marketing Manager, Garmin Australasia. “Our designers and engineers were challenged to rethink an industry icon, and the result is as pristine as it is practical.”
At less than 9mm thin, nüvi 3700 series is easily the slimmest PND on the market – an irresistible design that begs to be turned on and shown off. The sleek new look has been making waves around the world, already scoring a Red Dot Design Awards in a field of more than 4,000 submissions globally. Already, nüvi 3700 series has proven it is a cut above the rest.
There are two models in the series – nüvi 3790T and nüvi 3760. nüvi 3790T is the new flagship model including lifetime traffic alerts, voice activated navigation and 3D building and terrain view.
The award-winning design of previous nüvi units continues with the easy-to-use 4.3” WVGA display with smooth glass capacitive touch panel that lets users see their preloaded maps and intuitive menus in landscape or portrait modes – ideal for use in the car or on foot. The ‘must have’ nüvi 3700 series is equally at home on your car’s dash and when you’re out and about, complementing all your best looks.
But the advances aren’t limited to the design of nüvi 3700 series – Garmin is constantly innovating to bring the best user experience to PND. The new capacitive multi-touch display in nüvi 3700 series delivers on this promise, giving users the ability to zoom in and out (by double-tapping or “pinching” the map), browse surrounding areas on the map (dragging a finger), or change perspective from 2D to 3D and rotate the map 360 degrees (two-finger drag or twist).
Both models in the nüvi 3700 series also include myTrends™, making a driver’s commute easier than ever. myTrends predicts routes based on your most frequent destinations allowing you to jump in your car, turn on the unit and travel to your location faster than before.
Moving with the times, nüvi 3790T also responds to voice commands with a customisable “wake-up phrase” to initiate navigation – the most elegant execution of this feature ever seen in a GPS unit. Adding to the practical aesthetics of the unit, unprecedented details of 3D terrain and 3D buildings give you one of the most lifelike navigation experiences available on the market. In selected cities within Australia 3D city modeling is also available providing drivers with even further detail to assist with navigation.
Users of the new nüvi 3700 series can also count on the regular features of Garmin’s industry leading PND units with both models including Whereis® mapping of Australia and New Zealand, Bluetooth®wireless technology for hands-free calling and Points of Interest dialing and ecoRoute™ to help drivers with fuel-efficient navigation. Additionally, the units come with speed limit indicator, safety cameras, customisable wallpaper, Real View Advanced Lane Guidance, park position recall, a secondary speaker located on the powered mount, offering the highest sound quality in the nüvi lineup and on the nüvi 3790T free lifetime traffic alerts via the SUNA traffic channel.
For enhanced pedestrian navigation with public transport information, optional cityXplorer™ mapping will be available (initially in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide). Now there’s no excuse for not taking the stylish new nüvi 3700 series with you whenever you’re out of the car!
The nüvi 3700 series is the latest breakthrough in design and engineering excellence from Garmin, which has spent over 20 years developing technologies and shaping the navigation industry worldwide.
nüvi 3790T has a recommended retail price (RRP) of $549 and nüvi 3760 an RRP of $449 – both units will be available from July 2010. Visit www.garmin.com.au and click on ‘where to buy’ for a list of retailers.
